XXY in Conversation: What’s It Really Like To Work Behind A Fashion Magazine

We are bored. We are tired  of fashion stereotypes, Devil Wears Prada quotes and Instagram accounts which don’t reflect the grind it truly is to work at a magazine and platform. We are not saying we don’t do any of the above but XXY became restless watching many talk around the subject therefore we partnered up with Blackwell’s to host our third panel talk, to talk about what it’s really like working behind a fashion magazine. But don’t worry, it’s not just me waffling about how free shoes aren’t actually a currency unfortunately for an hour, but I’ll be joined our panelists; Koral Leigh, the Director of Lewis & Leigh PR, Rachel Macbeth, the Deputy Editor of Bricks magazine, Nas Abraham, Visual Artist and Johannes Reponen, the Founding Editor at Address Magazine.

‘Is fashion really just frivolous and superficial? Do you tell your interns florals are not groundbreaking? How do you even begin your own brand and where are all the free shoes?!’ will be genuine questions asked on Wednesday the 18th of November alongside personal anecdotes, how you can get into the industry yourself, and a chance to network with industry insiders. We have brought in people who know their shit so you truly know how to start in fashion – from creating a fashion PR and Marketing brand in your second year of university, to producing an independent print magazine in the birth of the digital age. Come join the conversation, it’s about time someone started so #LetsTalkAboutIt.
