Angela Missoni has weaved it yet again. If you go by Missoni’s latest SS/15 collection, one can easily guess the inspiration behind it- Surfers. She continues to work with the zig-zag prints, waves and an infusion of various design elements in this collection. Cool, casual and contemporary is the wave the collection seems to ride on.
Moroccan-inspired geometric prints paired with Breton stripes and Gingham checkered shorts in cool blues, fading greens created a relaxed feeling. Open vests, zippered shirts or clashing prints in the form of collared T-shirts and overcoats were seen on the ramp. Linen shorts were coupled with loosely fitted patterned jumpers in earthy stripes or heritage zig-zag print to reinforce the bohemian vibe.
While the stripes were faded out, the colours looked more lively accentuating the entire styling down to the details. The leisurely stylish silhouettes were seen alongside printed scarves which were worn casually over the shirts resembling beach towels, espadrilles and beach wave hair which completed the look.
Missoni continued to collaborate with Converse yet again. However, this season the iconic brand used a multi-stitch jacquard fabric reinventing the brand’s 1970’s Chuck Taylor and All Star slip-ons taking us down memory lane. Another noteworthy feature in the collection was the matched up short suits making for a easy yet fitted outfit around the shore.
Knitwear and prints were given a restructured sartorial version which was inspired from last season’s collection. Overall, the essence of the collection wasn’t new and one can only wonder as to how far can Missoni break the bank with its zig-zag print? Perhaps its time to draw the line before it comes full circle.
