Gyo Yuni and Kim Choe take another expedition to explore their philosophy about life and nature. Using sustainable materials like faux leathers and fur they decided to take “The Thanatos Expedition”.  “Thanatos” is a Freudian theory that is used to describe “the hypothesis of a death instinct, the task of which is to lead organic life back into the inanimate state”. Gyo and Kim decided to explore how science and spiritual world like Mongolian Shamans can bring us to after life?

In this collection, Gyo and Kim used high-tech fabrics such as air-mesh, neoprene and outdoor ropes to juxtapose with natural tweed and organic wool to symbolically connect the conceptual theme. Most notable in the narration of their story was the last piece of the show; a men’s floor-length tweed cape with fur lining styled with a large astronauts helmet fitted with large animal horns.

The stringy, colourful threads and faux fur were draped around the neck, arms and thighs that traced back to the way Mongolian Shamans dressed. Gyo Yuni and Kim Choe have widened the perception in fashion by asking Socratic questions about limitation of science technology and Shamaism of afterlife.
